5 Fragen an JONES

Wenn ich irgendwo how deep is your love lese, werde ich hellhörig. Hat das was mit dem Blog zu tun? Gibt es einen neuen Titel mit dem Namen? Es ist noch nicht lange her, da hatte ich mal wieder so einen Moment. Entdeckt habe ich nicht nur eine wunderschöne Coverversion von Calvin Harris‘ „How Deep Is Your Love“, sondern auch JONES. Ist ja klar, dass sie mir die „5 Fragen an“ beantworten musste, oder?

1. Who are you?

I am a singer and songwriter from London that goes by the name JONES.

2. How would you describe yourself in 5 sentences?

– I’m an observer and like to watch people.
– I’m sensitive and feel things deeply, and see beauty in strange things.
– Often I prefer the company of myself or smaller groups rather than crowds, unless I’m performing my songs which changes things completely, that’s probably when I feel most alive.
– I am a music-lover. It has always been my greatest passion, that and expression through written language.
– I believe in the law of attraction.

3. Tell me your latest news?

I’ve just got back from performing at Glastonbury, it was my first time there and I hope to return on another year. My latest single Melt recently went up online and I’m really happy with the response so far. Also the UK has just voted to leave the EU and I’m not sure what it will mean for the future…

4. What kind of musicians do you look up to?

I admire classic songwriters and musicians, like Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, David Bowie and Lykke Li.

5. Your favourite album or song at the moment?

My favourite album at the moment is Currents by Tame Impala.

Kurz mal eben ihre Facebook Seite ausgecheckt und da habe ich so einiges Interessantes herausgefunden.

JONES kommt von der Insel, ist dort anscheinend gar nicht mal so unbekannt. Sie spielte dieses Jahr auf dem Glastonbury und auf dem Latitude Festival (keine zwei unbekannten Festivals) und ist frisch für das Reeperbahn Festival bestätigt. Auch nicht uninteressant: mit HONNE arbeitete sie an ihrem Titel „Melt“, ein Duett mit den beiden gibt es auch und sie begleitet die beiden auf ihrer Nordamerika Tour. Ach und ihr Album kommt am 07.10. raus. Und und und – ich find sie spitze!

Mich erinnert ihre Musik etwas an HONNE, vielleicht bilde ich mir das auch ein, weil ich weiß, dass die beiden zusammengearbeitet haben. So oder so ist JONES eine grandiose Entdeckung gewesen. Ihre Lieder sind so schön ruhig und gefühlvoll und dennoch nicht langweilig ruhig. Ihre Musik ist soulig und das mag ich! Egal, ob sie „How Deep Is Your Love“ covert oder „Melt“ akustisch spielt. Sie verpasst einem ein warmes und wohliges Gefühl.

Ich bin gerade etwas, ach das ist eine Untertreibung, süchtig nach JONES. Der Hashtag #girlcrush trifft es auf den Punkt!
