5 Fragen an Leo Kalyan

Bei Future R’n’B wurde ich neugierig – wie klingt denn das? Und was ist daran so Future? Dem bin ich mal auf die Spur gegangen…

1. Who are you?
My name is Leo Kalyan. I’m a singer, songwriter and producer from London.

2. How would you describe yourself in 5 sentences?
I don’t know, I guess, I’m a private kind of guy – I put a lot of myself in my music, so I like to let the music do the talking!

3. Tell me your latest news?
My first ep „silver linings“ is coming out on the 24th of July, and I’m playing my first headline show at the waiting room in London on 29th July. Exciting times ahead…

4. What kind of musicians do you look up to?
Sade, Seal, Fleetwood Mac, The Fugees, Massive Attack.

5. Your favourite album or song at the moment?
I’ve recently been re-listening to Kaytranada’s remix of „Atm Jam“ by Azealia banks and Pharrell. It’s incredible.

Ein junger Produzent aus London ist also für diesen Future R’n’B verantwortlich. Interessant. Und gar nicht mal so unerfolgreich ist er, der Leo Kalyan. BBC Radio 1 verfiel schon seiner Musik und mit seiner ersten Single „Fingertips“ schaffte er es in die Spotify Global Viral Charts, auf Platz 1 wohlgemerkt, und lies Rihanna und co. hinter sich.
Das alles verdankt er seinem ersten Mixtape „Stranger“ mit dem er auf sich aufmerksam machte. Jetzt ist die erste EP „Silver Linings“ draußen und es bleibt nur abzuwarten, wohin sie ihn bringt.

Ein kleiner Augenschmaus sind auch seine Cover. Fast kleine Kunstwerke sind sie. Was an seiner Musik so Future ist, weiß ich zwar immer noch nicht. Dafür weiß ich, dass seine Musik im Ohr bleibt!
