Geschmacksfragen: Eilis Frawley

Aus Australien stammend und in Berlin lebend (etwas, das ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen kann :)). So ist es auf jeden Fall bei der Schlagzeugerin und Perkussionistin Eilis Frawley. Die hat jetzt am 07. März ihr Debüt-Album „Fall Forward“ rausgebracht. Co-produziert wurde das Album mit Kat Frankie und die beiden haben ein „anspruchsvolles, experimentelles Indie-Album mit Einflüssen aus Pop, Jazz und Krautrock aufgenommen“. Letzte Woche, am 19. März, hat die Dame auch im Nürnberger Soft Spot gespielt, und das war erst der Auftakt ihrer Tour. Ihr habt also noch genug Möglichkeit, ein Konzert von ihr zu besuchen. Jetzt aber erstmal zu unseren Geschmacksfragen.

Your current favourite Song?

‘Here’s the thing’ or ‘Turning Green’ by Courtney Barnett, have both been in pretty high rotation since it’s release in 2021. I love songs that feel like they were written about your exact life, simple yet so relatable.

Your current favourite record?

I got the Little Simz ‘Sometimes I might be an introvert’ double album on vinyl for christmas, so that’s currently high on rotation. I love the vast instrumentation, the beginning is absolutely epic, the whole thing is sooo groovy and the full album takes you on a nice journey from track to track.

Your favourite place?

I would say, in general, the beaches in South Australia. I recently went to Port Noarlunga, and was pretty blown away. There’s a reef just off the shore, the water is crystal clear, there’s a cute kiosk and a nice walk you can talk around around the coast. It feels a bit like the end of the world, but in the best way. staring into the endless ocean. It’s calm, and it feels very far away from the hustle of my regular life.

Your favourite drink?

I love all of the twinings superblend teas, there’s one for literally every occasion. On tour I particularly like to have the ‘Defence’ and ‘Sleep’ varieties, I’d be lost without them!

Your favourite food?

I lived in South Korea for a few years so I have quite a soft spot for korean food; kimchi stew, kimchi pancakes, bibimbap! But my all time favorite has to be mexican, the combination of beans, rice, a little spice and guacamole makes me very, very happy.

What you’d like to read about yourself but hasn’t been written about you yet?

I’m left handed!
