Geschmacksfragen: Flora Falls

Brea und Dom sind zusammen das Berliner Indie-Folk-Duo Flora Falls. Seit 2019, als die beiden sich bei einer Open Stage für Singer-Songwriter kennenlernten, machen sie jetzt schon zusammen Musik, und nächstes Jahr, am 20. März, wird auch endlich ihr Debüt-Album „Everyday Love“ erscheinen. Auf Tour waren die beiden jetzt kürzlich im November auch. Unter anderem im Erlanger Free Willy. Vielleicht hat sie ja der ein oder andere von euch gesehen. Falls nicht, sollte man das unbedingt bei der nächsten Gelegenheit nachholen. Um die beiden etwas besser kennenzulernen, gibts jetzt unsere Geschmacksfragen mit ihnen.

Your current favourite song (and why)?

Dom says: ‘just wanna forget you’ by MARO because it just feels like the warmest of sonic hugs.

Brea says: ‘Going Home’ by Ásgeir because recently I’ve been revisiting a lot of songs I listened to in my early 20s and it’s been so nostalgic to cycle through Berlin listening to songs that meant a lot to me back when I was living in Australia. There’s something about the brass section in that song that really moves me.

Your current favourite record (and why)?

Dom says: ‘Twin Solitude’ by Leif Vollebekk because it was an album that accompanied me through some big life changes of moving to Europe and starting a life in Berlin.

Brea says: ‘LOVED’ by Parcels because their music is just so FUN. I recently saw them play live in Berlin and they blew me away with their musicianship and performance. Whenever I listen to their music I feel so uplifted.

Your favourite place (and why)?

Dom says: My grandfather’s house in the Ticino (CH) because it’s the one place I can still go that reminds me of my whole family being together.

Brea says: The passenger seat of the tour rental car (where I’m typing this). Dom is whistling while moving slowly through traffic on the highway, but being here means we are on the road doing what we love and having a lot of fun on the way. We forgot to buy snacks before we left though and now we’re getting hangry.

Your favourite drink (and why)?

Dom says: Clean drinkable tap water. Good on any occasion!

Brea says: Water! I grew up in a drought where water was SO precious and we never knew when we’d have more of it, so you will never see me without a full water bottle. Nothing compares 2 U.

Your favourite food (and why)?

Dom says: Feijão (Brazilian black beans) because I could (and have) eaten that every day and it’s still delicious.

Brea says: A bowl of oats with oat milk, a selection of fruits (at the moment I’m really into grapes), nuts, seeds and peanut butter. I’ve eaten it every day for about 10 years and I still get excited for breakfast.

What you’d like to read about yourself but hasn’t been written about you yet?

Dom says: Maybe something that talks about how freaking funny I am, because goshdarnit I’m hilarious!

Brea says: Same. I actually taught Dom everything he knows.
