Geschmacksfragen: Iris Caltwait

2019 beim Reeperbahn Festival hatte ich sie entdeckt. Es gab ein wenig Zeit zwischen zwei Acts, die ich sehen wollte, und so bin ich ins Imperial Theater um mir eine junge Dame anzusehen, die ich vorher nicht kannte. Die Dame war die Norwegerin iris (mittlerweile mit ihrem ganzen Namen Iris Caltwait aktiv), und das hat mich komplett von den Socken gehauen. So eine wunderbare Stimme und krasse Bühnenpräsenz. Mit Abstand immer noch eine der besten Live-Erfahrungen, die ich bisher gemacht hab. Seitdem verfolg ich sie natürlich auch mit allem, was sie so macht. Und deswegen ist sie seitdem auch mit jeder ihrer Neuen Veröffentlichungen hier auf dem Blog erschienen. Jetzt ist endlich, am 07. November, ihr Neues Album „Again, for the first time“ erschienen. Das erste seit über 3 Jahren. Und endlich hab ich es auch geschafft, ihr unsere Geschmacksfragen zu stellen. Am 03. Februar ist sie übrigens für ein Konzert in Deutschland, genauer gesagt in der Berliner Berghain Kantine. Und natürlich werd ich da sein und mich wieder verzaubern lassen!

Your current favourite Song?

Divinyls – I Touch Myself. i don’t know!!! i just rediscovered this song, and it puts me in a good mood (and i need that). simple as that. also, Charli xcx – chains of love. i am obsessed. the melodies, the production, it’s so beautiful.

Your current favourite record?

Dancing the Conga – Trying to define newpunk. Beautiful, fun, cool and never boring.

Your favourite place?

the library in bergen. now that i’m finally back home, i can’t wait to sit and ROT there for hours. i just love the place so much, it’s calm, old, tall ceilings, big, brown shelves filled with books. and the cafe inside has soup, which is perfect for soup-season (which is NOW). (i mean, i have a silly dream to move in there. just for a couple of months. don’t think it’s possible, BUT imagine!!!!! the nights would be so terrifying, but i’m sure it would be so magical as well.)

Your favourite drink?

winter is coming, so any herbal tea will do it for me. and the first cup of coffee in the morning oh my god. and a glass of a heavy red wine now and then.

Your favourite food?

anything spicy. any indian food. OR injera!!!!

What you’d like to read about yourself but hasn’t been written about you yet?

that i’m going to be ok! a little crazy, but going to be ok.
i’ve received some truly beautiful reviews on the album, that i feel really understands and captures what i’ve tried to say – so maybe now that i’m playing live again, it would be sick to read that the way we’ve solved it live is doing the album justice:‘)
