Geschmacksfragen: Marquise Fair

Aus den Arbeitervierteln Miamis kommt der Soul-Sänger Marquise Fair, der bei seiner Großmutter aufgewachsen ist und beim Gospelchor der Kirche Zuflucht vor der Gewalt der Straße fand. Mit 13 kam er zur Musik, spielte Gitarre und schrieb seine ersten Songs. Heute, also am 05. September, erscheint sein zweites Album „Better World“. Mit seinem Wunsch, zur positiven Stimme der Menschen zu werden, die Probleme überwindet, hat er es vom Straßenmusiker bis zum großen Montreux Jazz Festival geschafft. Auf seinem Neuen Album arbeitet er mit Musikern zusammen, die schon für David Bowie, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo oder Erykah Badu gearbeitet haben. Für uns hat er unsere Geschmacksfragen beantwortet.

Your current favourite Song?

Allison Russell – „The Returner“. I believe the song is about the ever growing of people going back to nature. Becoming less worldly and more spiritual.

Your current favourite record?

Nas & Damian Marley – „Distant Relatives“. There are no better role models or representations for the African slave diaspora than these two artist. They inspire intelligence and sophistication while remaining true to their roots without being toxic or hateful.

Your favourite place?

Brazil, the people, the fresh and non gmo food, the lifestyle of the people and the weather.

Your favourite drink?

My favorite alcoholic drink is a Moscow Mule. I like it because it’s spicy yet sweet.

Your favourite food?

Shrimp Scampi with angel hair noodles. When I was a child my mom had a plate and shared some with me. Ever since I consider Shrimp Scampi when made right, to be a delicacy.

What you’d like to read about yourself but hasn’t been written about you yet?

My Philanthropic heart and desires. I would love see something about my charitable efforts and or ideas. What my goals are for what I will do with my resources and what I have already done in my efforts to charitable.
