Geschmacksfragen: Tyler Shaw

Your current favourite Song?
My current favourite is “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” by Oliva Dean. I love the production on this and am personally a big fan of lyrics and melody. It’s top notch! It’s so fresh and unique, I’ve been loving everything Oliva has been doing as of late. Was so happy to see her win a Grammy. Hoping to see her live on a day off during my own European tour.
Your current favourite record?
One of my all time favorite albums is Continuum by John Mayer – forever and always. This is like a music 101 album that everyone should listen to especially as you’re developing your own artistry. It’s brilliant!
Your favourite place?
I’m really excited to explore more of Germany on my European tour in May. I’ve previously performed at Reeperbahn in Hamburg but otherwise I’ve only popped in and out of Germany on layovers so I’m excited to spend some time and explore. Some of my favourite places to visit are Greece and Italy. I’ve spent a lot of time in Poland. Visiting family in Hong Kong and venturing around China is also one of my favorite places to visit. I love to travel as much as possible so it’s difficult to pick just 1 spot.
Your favourite drink?
I enjoy whiskey and red wine in the winter, colder months. I’ve been drinking gin and tonic and German beer in the summer, warmer months. Very much looking forward to more German beers while on tour – and grabbing a few pints in London as well. I like something I can sip on that either warms me up or cools me down, depending on the weather.
Your favourite food?
If I could only eat 1 meal for the rest of my life it would be Dim Sum. I love Asian food and Dim Sum is at the top of my list. It’s almost a spiritual experience for me. It’s delicious!
What you’d like to read about yourself but hasn’t been written about you yet?
Great question! I would love for people to dive a bit deeper into my involvement with my music. I’m a very” hands-on” artist so I not only write my music but I play multiple instruments, and produce for myself and others. On my new (forthcoming) album, I’ve produced about 90% of the album on my own. I’m meticulous with selecting sounds and really bringing my vision to life. My music production is something I’m really proud of and I’d love for people to learn more about that side of my art.
Thank you for the Answers!
