Jetzt habe ich mich in den letzten Ausgaben eher um die deutschen Künstler gekümmert und es wird mal wieder an der Zeit die britischen Künstler zu Wort kommen zu lassen! Mir sind Harry und Jack aka Seafret schon alleine wie sie im Interview geantwortet haben sehr sympathisch und wenn ihr euch die Musik anhört, dann erst recht. Aber erst alles mal der Reihe nach!

Who are you?
We are an acoustic duo, Jack Sedman (vocals) and Harry Draper (guitar). Since meeting we have been writing, recording and spreading our music as far as we can. We recently signed to Sweet Jane Recordings through Sony and have since relocated to London to make our debut album. Living here has been really inspiring for us and has given us a great chance to play in front of a whole new crowd. We released our first EP Give Me Something in September and have just released our latest EP Oceans. After what feels like a long time hidden away writing in a studio we can’t wait to get on the road this year!

How would you describe yourself in 5 sentences?
5 sentences:
We were brought up and introduced on the North East coast of England, in a small town called Bridlington.

Jack has a big afro and Harry has fast fingers.

Our northern accents make us stand out like sore thumbs down south!

We have a really tight bond and share very similar interests/ tastes of music.

We always have a laugh and totally love what we do.

Tell me your latest news?

Last week we released a music video for the title track on our latest EP ‚Oceans‘. We were lucky enough have Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams play the lead role in it. People are spreading the love and that’s what it’s all about for us. The video picked up 500k views in a week which is an incredible feeling! Also, we have 44 shows coming up around the country starting Feb 16th and can’t wait to hear what people think of our latest material.

What kind of musicians do you look up to?

We were brought up on our parents’ collection before starting our own. We still look up to those artists such as, Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, John Martyn, Elvis Presley and Tom Waits.

We are constantly discovering new music, we listen to a lot of Jack White, Royal Blood, The Growlers, Daughter, Ben Howard, The Districts and Hozier (who we supported a couple of weeks back).

What is your favourite album or song at the moment?

Harry’s favourite album at the minute is the latest Ben Howard record ‚I forget where we were‘.

Sehr gerne doch!

In ihrer Heimat machen sie sich gerade ihren Namen. Zu BBC Radio 1 haben sie es schon geschafft! Für Zane Lowe coverten sie schon „Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene” von Hozier, den sie übrigens schon auf seiner Tour begleiteten.

Bis jetzt haben die beiden schon zwei EPs veröffentlicht, einmal „Give Me Something“ und „Oceans“, die aktuellste. Beide spiegeln die zwei Seiten von Seafret perfekt wider. Die zerbrechliche und emotionale Seite und die etwas Lautere und Fesselnde.

Seafret können einen richtig mit ihrer Musik verzaubern! Ihre so wundervoll klingenden Songs nehmen einen mit in andere Welt und lassen einen alles vergessen. Die Stimme von Jack ist so sanft und nicht drängt sich nicht in den Vordergrund. Musik und Gesang harmonieren perfekt zusammen!

Wie sie im Interview verraten haben, arbeiten Jack und Harry gerade noch an ihrem Debütalbum und touren einmal komplett über die Insel. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie dann ihr fertiges Werk klingen wird! Wenn es schon genauso gut wird wie die EPs, kann eigentlich bei den beiden nichts mehr schief gehen!
