5 Fragen an Klyne
Klyne habe ich, ohne dass ich es wusste, dass es Klyne überhaupt gibt, schon gemocht. Ihre Lieder liefen öfter mal bei egoFM und dort habe ich sie auch zum ersten Mal gehört. Im Line Up des Reeperbahn Festivals sind sie bei mir untergegangen, zu meiner Verteidigung: Ich kannte sie ja auch noch nicht. Dann wurde ich auf die beiden Jungs aus Holland aufmerksam gemacht und ich musste sie mir für ein „5 Fragen an“ schnappen!
1. Who are you?
We are a band called Klyne. We make music. We’re from Holland. There’s nothing really special about us – we are just normal guys.
2. How would you describe yourself in 5 sentences?
Ferdous: I make the beats and don’t do sports. I’m really lazy, eat a lot of chips sometimes and love sparkling water.
Nick: I don’t know. I don’t make beats. I’m the vocalist of the band and hang out a lot at home. Don’t really have a life beside music.
3. Tell me your latest news?
We do have a new single coming up, next month actually. There is also a video coming, but that will be later. It will take a while.
4. What kind of musicians do you look up to?
Nick: I don’t look up to someone. There are a lot of really cool artists, that inspired us or me in the names of Prince, Jamie Woon or Stevie Wonder.
Ferdous: I do look up to certain artists, it’s mostly electronic stuff. I’ve been listening to it since I was fifteen or something. I just love electronic acts.
5. Your favourite album or song at the moment?
Ferdous: I’m really into that new song from M.I.A. with ZAYN. That’s a really cool song. The new Frank Ocean is good, but I still have to listen it in a quiet space with no distraction.
Nick: Let me check my Spotify Playlist. I just see, that I’ve been listening a lot to Bon Iver. Their EP is called 22/10. I really love the way they changed their sound to something more modern.
Bevor ich die beiden zum Interview traf, wollte ich mir natürlich auch ihre Show anschauen. Sie spielten gleich zwei Mal auf dem Reeperbahn Festival und ich entschied mich nachmittags in die Molotow Skybar zu gehen. Wahrlich eine gute Entscheidung – der Laden war voll und heiß. So startet man doch gerne in den zweiten Festivaltag! Live werden die beiden noch von einer Band begleitet und das macht schon mal was her, genauso wie Nicks warme und soulige Stimme!
Klyne stehen zwar noch am Anfang ihrer Karriere, doch die hat schon eindeutig gut Fahrt aufgenommen. Live Debüt auf dem Eurosonic Festival, dann als Support mit Years & Years auf Europa Tour und Disclosure baten sie um einen Remix für einen ihrer Titel. Was kommt da noch die nächsten Monate? Ihr Debütalbum!
Mir gefällt an ihren Titeln, dass man immer irgendwie Trommeln heraushören kann. Die tauchen immer versteckt auf. Die Beats klingen teils etwas düsterer, doch durch Nicks warme Stimme gleicht es das wieder aus. Dadurch bekommen die Lieder noch mehr Gefühl verpasst.
Titelnamen und Bandname sind im Kopf jetzt fest miteinander verbunden und ich werde sie, jetzt da ich weiß, dass es Klyne gibt, weiter mögen. Die bekommen von mir das Prädikat „äußerst dufte“ verliehen!
