5 Fragen an Niila

Er ist bestimmt der Traum vieler finnischen Teenie Mädels. Bevor man ihm den Stempel des „Singer/Songwriter mit dem Elefanten Tattoo, der alle Mädchen zum Träumen bringt“ aufdrückt, sollte man Niila besser kennenlernen!

1. Who are you?

My name is Niila and I’m a 28-year old singer-songwriter from Finland.

2. How would you describe yourself in 5 sentences?

For me making music is just as obvious as sleeping or eating and in fact when I’m making music I forget the other two.
I’m bad at many things but I especially struggle with being on time and despise myself for it because it shouldn’t be very hard, should it?
If I’m in a work mode my clock turns upside down so I work nights and sleep during the day.
I love socializing and I’d say I’m pretty outgoing but there’s also this loner living inside of me who’d be totally happy living in the woods for a month alone with a guitar.
All that working through the night, forgetting to eat and sleep and then realize it at like 5am to start cooking „dinner“, is kind of weird but also feels kind of awesome, so I guess I’m „awesomely weird.“

3. Tell me your latest news?

The summer was pretty amazing: I released my first EP in June and got to open for Sunrise Avenue on five shows on their summer tour. Now I’m working on my debut album which is set to be out early next year and also preparing the show for my own tour in Germany in December: Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, Cologne and Munich.

4. What kind of musicians do you look up to?

No matter if it’s the singer, the guitarist or the guy on the bongos, it’s always super inspiring to witness a true talent.

5. Your favourite album or song at the moment?

„Can’t Feel My Face“ by the Weeknd. So good!!

Er ist der finnische Singer/Songwriter mit dem verschmitzten Lächeln, der mal eben so mit Sunrise Avenue auf Tour geht. Aber er lässt sich Zeit mit seiner Musik. Man soll ihn kennenlernen und nicht voreilige Schlüsse ziehen. Mit seinem Debütalbum soll es aber schneller gehen – der Erscheinungstermin ist für Ende 2015 bzw. Anfang 2016 geplant. Sehr fleißig!

„Sorry“ klingt für mich zu sehr nach einem Til Schweiger Film, würde mich nicht wundern, wenn das im nächsten Film zu hören ist. Das war ein voreiliger Schluss von mir, muss ich gestehen, zu dem ich aber dennoch stehe. Doch alle Vorurteile mal beiseitegelegt und Butter bei die Fische, ist Niila ein talentierter Sänger. Auf seiner „Sorry – EP“ zeigt er, dass er die etwas poppigen Balladen (Sorry) genauso gut beherrscht wie die gefühlvollen oder Gute-Laune Lieder.
Am Ende macht sich jeder sein eigenes Bild über ihn, doch ein Rat von mir: Zieht keine voreiligen Schlüsse! Dadurch kann man immer etwas verpassen…
